It’s in remembering the little details of life that we feel connected!

Pay attention to those you want to share a friendship with. Whether in personal or business relationships it’s the simple things that people appreciate.

Remember their name; just pause, say their name back to them, take the moment to really hear their name and embed it in your memory. Remembering other’s names makes them feel significant.

Keep track of important events in their lives; when someone tells you about an upcoming function make note.  Then take the time to follow up with them later and see how it went.

Remember important dates; the big interview, their birthday! Things that are significant to them should become significant to you simply because you care about them.

It’s about really taking the time to listen to those around us. To care enough to remember the details that are important to each other.

What details of life are important to those in your life?

We all have our own story, don’t we?

A life lesson put into a child’s perspective …

Why are there mean people? Mean people are ones who hold hurt in their heart and possible unforgiveness. Things have happened them to create a heart that hurts and can be bitter.

Did I do something wrong to make them mean to me? It’s not you! Somewhere in the lives of the people who are mean something has happened to them. It has made them hurt so badly they don’t know what to do with the emotion. They have chosen to be mean because they don’t know how to handle their hurt.

What is their story?

Look into the grumpy teller’s eyes and instead of grumping back at her; let your heart soften and wonder how her day is.

Look at the bratty nieghbor’s kid and toy with the idea of a lack of love or attention in their little life that is at such an influential stage right now.

Look at that “horrid” person at work and ask yourself what might be going on in their life that they’re trying so hard to handle and yet feel like they’re drowning!

It can be an opportunity for us to soften our hearts. This doesn’t make it okay. This doesn’t mean we don’t have to step in and intervene in certain situations. But it can be a call for us to respond differently instead of just reacting back with our own knee jerk reaction.

What are the stories you’re seeing in the eyes of those around you today?
